The Redfrog team is working on the reproduction of rare plants and animals The nature conservation laws in Costa Rica are becoming more and more strict especially in the keeping and breeding of wild plants and animals. However, these laws do not prevent illegal extractions from nature, which often destroy or destroy entire populations. Our organization has the permission to fish plants and animals for the export. And to meet the needs of exports legally and to protect nature from destruction by illegal endings, he said. NEOFAUNA BUTTERFLY FARM AND SERPENTARIUM On this point, we work hand in hand with the Neofauna Park in Jaco. Neo Fauna is under the direction of our Vice President Luis Fronseca, who studied biology in Costa Rica and has designed and worked through many projects. In the Neofauna Park there are butterflies , snakes , frogs, but also rare bird species , predatory cats and other sa’getire. In Neofauna Park we unfortunately only have reptiles and amphibians from the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Deshalp we are planning a new project in the Limon Talamanca region to reproduce special plants and animals in demand in the Terraristig. Let’s plant billions of trees
Reducing CO2 emissions, reducing the use of coal and oil are important building blocks in the fight against climate change. Planting additional trees would be an efficient measure for climate rescue, according to a new study. An area of 900 million hectares would be available on the globe for this purpose. When trees grow, they absorb CO2 from the air and build the carbon of the greenhouse gas into their biomass. What is bound in the wood cannot harm the climate. Researchers from Switzerland, France and Italy have now surveyed the areas that could be used for afforestation projects worldwide. 900 million hectares are therefore available for this purpose throughout the globe, reports the group around the ecologist Thomas Crowther of ETH Zurich in the scientific journal Science. This would be almost equivalent to the area of the USA or 25 times the area of Germany. The total area of Brazil is 852 million hectares. The earth’s forestation could therefore increase by about a third without affecting cities or agriculture, the researchers write. Warming Planned power plants exceed climate targets States such as Vietnam and Turkey are unwavering in their plans to produce coal-fired power plants that emit greenhouse gases for decades. These fixed emissions make climate targets virtually unattainable, researchers warn. By Christoph von Eichhorn Trees planted there could absorb 205 gigatonnes of carbon from the atmosphere in the 30 to 60 years they need to grow. An estimated 300 gigatonnes have risen into the atmosphere through human activity since the Industrial Revolution. However, hurry is required, the researchers write. As global warming progresses, the regions suitable for afforestation are becoming smaller. In addition, it takes decades for the planted trees to extract noticeable amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere. However, rapid reforemeanwhile even achieves the goal set by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, the study states. The researchers deliberately sierly sierly sier-noted cities and existing agricultural land when searching for plantable land. First and foremost, devastated ecosystems should be repaired through afforestation. Influence of consumers The countries with the most potential have the most potential, says Felix Creutzig of the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) in Berlin. «At the same time, however, it is even more important that deforestation should be stopped first, especially in Brazil and Indonesia.» European consumers would also have an influence on this. «In the mass animal husbandry, poultry and pigs, but also cattle, are fed mainly Brazilian soya – which in turn is strongly associated with tropical deforestation and catastrophic loss of biodiversity.» Have a particularly large area for afforestation: Russia: 151 million hectares USA: 103 million hectares Canada: just over 78 million hectares Australia: 58 million hectares Brazil: nearly 50 million hectares China: 40 million hectares «In my opinion, reforestation is an important option in our toolbox of natural climate protection efforts,» says Marcus Lindner of the European Forest Institute (EFI) in Bonn. In principle, however, it should be borne in mind that «forest climate protection measures alone are far too low to achieve ambitious climate protection targets.» However, in view of the afforestation potential in Russia, where huge forest fires have raged in the past, it seems questionable to him whether this potential can be used even in the first place: «The technical means, the workforce and also a reliable institutional support for such measures – unlike, for example, China.» Julia Pongratz, Chair of Physical Geography and Land Use Systems at the University of Munich, points to other effects that trigger changes in forest areas. Forests, for example, can cool the air temperature in many regions, sometimes by several degrees. Temperature extremes would be mitigated as a result. «Such changes often have a much greater impact on local living conditions than the supra-regional effects of a afforestation measure,» Pongratz said. Ideally, forests should simultaneously serve to adapt on site and reduce global temperature rise. Humanity has probably already halved the earth’s original tree population, the research by Thomas Crowther in Sciencesuggests. However, the damage done in centuries to repair it through afforestation in the Hauruck process seems unrealistic. «We cannot avoid reducing emissions from the burning of fossil fuels as quickly and comprehensively as possible. This should have happened decades ago and time is running out,» says atmospheric researcher Almut Arneth of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. «Despite all its potential, afforestation can only be one of many measures for climate protection,» says Felix Creutzig from Berlin. It would be best not to pump more CO2 into the atmosphere.
Tours Report with Crissy Steinbach from Germany
With the Redfrogteam in search of frogs, snakes and spiders in different habitats in Costa Rica. This report describes the course of our special tours for spiders and frog lovers.Visited places were Bri Bri,Panama,Gandoca,Gandoca,Moin Limon,Batan,Sequires,Guayacan,Turrialba,Vulcan Irazu,Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui. Chrissi Steinbach is known as a frog keeper in Germany He planned a Costa Rica holiday to experience the life of his caregivers in nature. He also wanted to experience as much of the country as possible. He also wanted to get to know the Redfrog team personally, which he only knew from the Internet. Over the Internet he started a collection campaign of terrarium accessories. Which we urgently need for the terrarium construction for frog breeding. This fundraising appeal was also made with useful items by Paul NuarbStefan MeierDenise ImhofMichael Kuhl-DendroshopKay DobrofskyFrank EschweilerUte Sawade supports. The Redfrog team would like to thank you again for the material and donations.m Arrival in Costa Rica On 27.08.2009 Chrissi arrived in Puerto Limon at the same time as his sponsor package. Unfortunately, a sponsored camera and the package landed at customs. I met with Chrissi there so that he no longer had to wait alone at the bus stop for me. Since the import regulations in Costa Rica are very strict, the silicone and the feed have been seized by customs for the first time and a permit can only be issued by the health mine. However, we wanted to avoid further visits to the hotel for today. So we took the bus along the Caribbean beaches on our way to the rainforest to the Biological Station in Bri Bri to the Alto Talamanca Mountains. Redfrogteam Biological Station The Biological Station is located in the rainforest of Talamanca near the Volio waterfall and serves as a research station for us. Most of our tours start from hir. The surrounding rainforest is very rich in species and a true paradise. We offer you here a free tour advice, food and drink as well as a simple accommodation. In the evenings we arrived at the Biological Station with a lot of luggage. During a tour of the station building, Crissy discovers a baby boa in the roof for joy. Danch we are only exhausted in bed. Day trip at the Biological Station Crissy was already awake and set out to explore the gel. Already on the stairs of the house he could discover the first Pumilios. Afterwards he found many more specimens of the Pimilio Bri Bri Variante.Im garden he saw some D auratus. And he eatthed the calls of D.lugrubis Volio Waterfall near the Biological Station About 20 minutes walk and man reaches the waterfall hidden in the rainforest. Later he set out to visit the nearby Volio waterfall. However, he could not find him alone because it is hidden deep in the rainforest. My friend Masca came to visit with his family so they all visited the waterfall together and had a lot of fun. In addition, you can see and hear various animal species such as birds and monkeys in the evening hours at full moon also predatory cats. Willy Herpotologist of the team also appears on the station. Our herpotologist of the willy team also arrived at the station. He has travelled from Guayacan where he is currently working on a spider project. We will now plan our negotiations together with Chrissi. Willy was very much looking forward to our tour together and that he is against the station. We wanted to go to the surrounding rainforest at night to look for animals and fish a few shrimps for our luxury evening red. https://redfrogteam.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/20190905_091049.mov Night tour at the Biological Station At night the real life begins in the surrounding rainforest and numerous frogs awaken at the lagoons and little ones and Schangenarten. In a nearby stream we even discovered some Glasfrösche.Im stream that night we fish edging a pair of shrimps for our supper. Puerto Viejo de Talamanca The next day we drove to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca to rent a car for the tour. Panama By car we then drove along the street and over en Schleichweg through the rainforest to the border with Panama in order to buy there g’nstig Proviant for the tour. Dav rhdr Cof Cof Refugio Gandoca After our purchase we drove to the Refugio Gandoca welces on the border with Panama. In this nature reserve there are shield cranes of protection projects and narwhals . A visit to Gandoca is always worthwhile. Often we see kamane in the lagoons.Rare monkey species, leguanes, snakes and much more. The lagoon Gndoca is the only one in Costa Rica where narwhals still live. The Minaet has a turtle protection project. The beach is very nice but not suitable for bathing, because here there are strong streaks. Nest Gandoca Lagoon The visit to Gandoca was very worthwhile but we also saw frightening pictures Night tour in the Reserva indigena in Alto Talamanca near Bri Bri. Not far from the Biological Station is the Reseva indigena, where the Bri Bri and Cabeka indigenous live. We drove hir into a wooded area which is very natural to observe the night-active animals. At about 19.00 we reached the outed place we drove slowly into the area by car and lit it up with the flashlights. And suddenly we honked the calls of glass frogs, which unfortunately we did not get in front of the lens. A little deeper in the gel nde we were able to identify a lagoon that alone had the various call sounds slithering to an Ampfiebien-rich area. A spurelli a rarity D.ebracata We will continue to examine this lagoon for its species. But for today we cancel the excursion as tomorrow it will continue very early. Planning the tour Already in the evening we put together our equipment for our joint tour. Various cameras ,Messger’te ,Kescher ,Beh’lter and especially flashlights were corrected in the laboratory and prepared for the tour. Tortugerro At 6 o’clock it was called to get up,
