31.3.19 Terra Börse Rendsburg
Today we were again at the Terra-Börse in Rendsburg as an exhibitor. Many visitors informed themselves about our foliage. Our new mini-mix is very well received because it is suitable for many different applications. We were also able to welcome regular customers on site, who were looking forward to the new varieties and beat them accordingly.
Good news about the sea turtle conservation and breeding project.
Today we received a good news from our biologist David Guerds. In the Province Limon in the beautiful resort of Cahuita, 61 Lederücken turtles have been born babies and safely into the sea. They are now making their journey into the wide sea. David Guerds is a senior assistant in this project. He participated in a seminar on turtle conservation in Costa Rica. The project (Turtle Rescue) has been official since this year and is supported by the environmental organization Sinac. Since the sea turtles and their eggs are a sought-after product, they are hunted and their meat is sold, souvenirs and trinkets are made from the tanks. The eggs are also sold for consumption. Since this year, the beach in Cahuita, which is a popular storage place for turtles, is officially under protection. From 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., no people other than project employees are allowed to stay there. The beach now belongs to the turtles. We are very happy about this great change and are looking forward to long offspring of the sea turtles. All these conservation projects require a lot of time physical effort and money. The Redfrog team was also very important to this point, as the nature conservation laws in Costa Rica are becoming increasingly strict and legal exports and breeding are virtually impossible. As a result, many illegal withdrawals from nature take place, which often destroy entire populations. Which is not in our interest. The Redfrog team is allowed to produce offspring of plants and animals to cover the export required. Our Vitze President Luis is a state biologist and is already busy applying for the necessary papers and we already have some breeding groups of amphibians and reptiles in Neofauna Park. Project Conservation and expansion of the Biological Station
The building complex is in some places in a state in need of overhaul. The tooth of time gnaws at the woods, which are exposed to constant climate change. Water pipes and electrics also need to be renewed. In terms of nature conservation, the repair and new construction of terrariums and ponds is planned. We are looking for people who want to help us here on site. Self-initiative, motivation and a flexible attitude are required. Together, the work is a lot of fun and at the end of the day you can see what you have created with your own hands. In return, we offer you free accommodation and meals.
